### How long is the tour?

The tour is approximately 3 hours long with a distance of 8 miles.

### How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour departure to have the bike fittings and orientation.

### How many people are on tour?

It all depends on how many riders show up on the day. The tour requires at least 4 riders to proceed each day. If a large group joins, they’ll split the group or add extra guides to ensure safety, the group stays together, and everyone has a great experience.

### Do I need a drivers license, ID, or credit card to rent a bike?

They require a security deposit on all rentals. This could include a credit card, photo ID or other form of deposit. Bikers under the age of 18 must be accompanied or have a release form signed by a parent or guardian.

### What's the difference between this tour and a self-guided one?

The guided tour offers a fun, easy-paced ride through San Francisco, with plenty of stops for photos, snacks, and stories. Led by local guides, it’s a great way to learn fascinating history, hidden secrets, and fun facts while enjoying a more personal and memorable experience.

### Which bike should I choose?

Choose a deluxe comfort bike with a lightweight frame, adjustable seat, and multiple gears for a smooth ride. Or opt for an e-bike with a powerful 48V/350W motor and adjustable assist to tackle hills effortlessly. Both options offer comfort, stability, and easy handling for all skill levels.

### Can I add a kid attachment to my electric bike rental?

Electric bikes can be very powerful and it's not recommend to attach kids’ equipment to these bikes.

### What should I wear?

San Francisco is famous for its micro-climates, and it can get quite windy and cold on the waterfront and the Golden Gate Bridge. Blazing Saddles recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing with warm layers and athletic shoes.

### Do I have to wear my biking shoes on the tour?

It is recommended. They currently have a limited number of bike shoes for rent (subject to availability), but Blazing Saddles can fit your bike with cage pedals.

### What should I bring?

There’s no secure storage available at their store, so bring only essentials that fit in a backpack or bike rack. Be prepared for any weather—pack a waterproof poncho and sunscreen.

### Should I bring a helmet?

California State Law requires helmets to be worn by riders under the age of 18\. Helmets are not mandatory for riders over the age of 18, but they are recommended. You are also more than welcome to bring your own helmet.

### Can we ride over the Golden Gate Bridge even if I'm not a pro-athlete?

Absolutely! This is a beginner/intermediate ride along a mostly flat bike path, and you will be away from traffic the majority of the time. The best part is that you can customize the speed and effort of your ride – just go at your own pace and make as many stops as you like.

### How safe is the ride across the Golden Gate Bridge?

The ride is beginner/intermediate along a mostly flat bike path, and you’re completely away from traffic the majority of the time. It’s a very safe ride and suitable for the whole family.

### What if I want to end the tour early?

It's recommended you stay with the group where possible as the guide will be familiar with the group size and needs, but of course, you are welcome to leave the tour at any point. If you decide not to continue, just be sure to let the tour guide know before taking off.

### Do we have to take the ferry for this?

Nope! The ferry is completely optional, and you can cycle both ways on the Golden Gate Bridge. As the ferry is run by a separate company, the tickets are not included in your rental or tour, but there is the option for Blazing Saddles to provide you with ferry tickets at the start of your ride as a convenience. If you use the tickets you will pay for them upon return, but if you don’t use the ferry tickets you can just return them to Blazing Saddles at no charge. You can also book a reservation ticket online or purchase it in the booths available in Sausalito and Tiburon on a first come first serve basis. The Sausalito and Tiburon ferries will drop you off at either Pier 41 (right by Fisherman’s Wharf) or Pier 1, the San Francisco Ferry Building (near Justin Herman Plaza). Check the ferry schedule inside your map or on their website for a detailed list of times and drop-off locations.

### Is there a place to return the bike in Sausalito?

They do not currently have a rental location on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge, so you will need to return your bike to the location where you originally started. Once you are in Sausalito, you can lock up your bike at the ferry terminal while you explore the town. Most people like to take their bikes back on the ferry to enjoy the views and fresh air, or you’re welcome to ride back if you prefer.

### What if I can't return my bike in time for closing?

If you’re having too much fun out there and you don’t think you’ll make it back before Blazing Saddles closes, you may call them for instructions on how to drop off your bikes after hours.
